In the Kansai region of Japan, there is a tea that is drunk on New Year’s Day.
It is called “Ohpuku-cha”.
It is also sometimes drunk at weddings as a good omen
Then, Kuya Shonin loaded tea and pickled plums onto a cart enshrining the eleven-faced Kannon statue, and went out into the city to serve the tea with pickled plums to the sick, and the plague gradually subsided.
In honor of this merit, Emperor Murakami began to drink this tea on the first day of the New Year.

お正月のお茶 「大福茶」
日本の関西地方にはお正月に飲むお茶があります。
「おおぷくちゃ」といいます。
縁起の良いものとして結婚式にも飲まれる場合があります。
起源は西暦951年、京の都で疫病が流行したとき、当時の村上天皇が六波羅蜜寺の空也上人に命じて祈祷させましたが効果がありませんでした。
そこで空也上人は十一面観音像を安置した台車にお茶と梅干を積み、市中に繰り出し、お茶に梅干を入れて病人にふるまったところ、絵企業は次第に収まりました。
この功徳にあやかり、村上天皇は正月元旦にこのお茶を服するようになりました。
